This illustration is based on the Ojibwe story of the Spider Woman - caretaker of the children and the people on the land. The Ojibwe Nation spread to the corners of North America and it became difficult for the spider woman to reach all the children. The mothers and grandmothers would weave magical webs for the children, known as dream catchers. These would filter out all bad dreams and only allow good thoughts to enter the mind. Once the sun rises anything caught in the night disappears.
